The Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland presents and is participating in “National Diaper Need Awareness Week” happening now through October 2nd along with more than 100 other diaper banks across the country.

Our local buybuy Baby has graciously offered to serve as a donation center. Shoppers are asked to kindly purchase a pack or box of diapers and drop them off in the donation crib located next to the checkout or make a monetary donation at diaperbankgc.org.

The following local area organizations are also partnering with The Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland as drop-off locations for diaper donations: Cleveland Public Library (East Side Locations), Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland, Student Run Health Clinic at Neighborhood Family Practice. Twinsburg Public Library, and University Settlement.

The goals of “National Diaper Need Awareness Week” are to:
1. Collect 500,000+ Diaper Donations (i.e. – physical diapers and/or monetary donations)
2. Raise Public Awareness About Diaper Need
3. Increase Sustainability of Diaper Banks in Ohio and throughout the country.

Additionally, the Cuyahoga County Council has issued a proclamation declaring September 24 – October 2, 2022, National Diaper Need Awareness Week in Cuyahoga County!

About the Diaper Bank

The Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland is the only diaper bank in Cuyahoga County and distributes more than 12,000 diapers per month. According to The National Diaper Bank Network, “1 in 3 families in the United States is experiencing diaper need. Babies, without clean diapers, are exposed to more potential health risks and are less likely to be accepted to daycares, leaving parents unable to attend work.”

There are currently no federal programs that provide diaper support, which underscores the need for supporting diaper banks even more. Ending diaper need and keeping our babies covered is what drives Nakeisha Wells, Executive Director of The Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland.

“Diaper Need is a public health issue that not only affects families, but our entire community. Research has shown that children who experience diaper need are more likely to experience ongoing negative outcomes. The diapers that we provide not only improve the physical health outcomes for many children, but they also improve their overall quality of life,” Nakeisha Wells said.

The Diaper Bank of Greater Cleveland is a 501-C3 non-profit organization that works with local social service agencies to provide free diapers and support service to families in need.
